As SAP Basis technical lead you’ll be responsible for the 24/7 availability of systems servicing millions of clients in life and non-life insurance. What you’re going to do

You will be responsible for the system, database and application performance. Securing operational collaboration, you will manage your four-strong team of engineers and project managers, while coordinating the work of our global vendors’ engineers. In addition, you will advise the SAP platform management on strategic aspects such as proposed upgrades and complex migrations. And to secure alignment of business processes and needs with our infrastructure, you will be working closely with the functional and technical leads of our business units, which include our life and non-life insurance businesses, but also units like customers & commerce.

Your main responsibilities:

Managing our SAP landscape from a technical infrastructure perspective. This includes identifying the needs and business processes of the business units and advising on the best solutions and implementation
Helping define our SAP environment strategy, by investigating, identifying and advising on the potential of the latest tooling, as well as migration and implementation strategies to mitigate disruption
Managing ChaRM cycles, technical and functional processes, workflows, and compliance with NN change management policy, market and security standards and regulations
Contributing to the planned migration to S/4, and taking the lead in investigating the potential and consequences of a migration to SAP ALM
Coordinating the work of our hosting and application managed services partners and vendors across the globe, securing operational collaboration for maintenance, patching and lifecycle management
Monitoring daily system health checks and assisting team members with resolving complex system and application performance issues. And coaching your team members to increase their technical expertise and securing team capacity and capabilities

Who you are

You thrive on working with the latest tech, continuously researching the potential of new tooling and software to optimise platform performance for our business units. Taking ownership, you embrace the complexity of implementations and migrations in a company that requires 24/7 availability. And you have no problems with working outside office hours to address issues. To achieve your goals, you inspire and motivate your team, vendor engineers and the business units’ team leads, for which you harness your communication skills. In addition you have:

Eight plus years experience of working as an SAP Basis Consultant and leading Basis teams. And preferably experience of S/4HANA project implementations or support
Extensive experience with SAP ChaRM and SAP Solution Manager
Strong high availability, disaster recovery and HANA DB database administration skills
SAP S/4HANA certification, or the willingness to obtain this certification
An excellent command of spoken and written English, as you’ll be working with international vendors. And as many of the business users are Dutch speakers, some command of Dutch would stand you in good stead
